The basic principle behind the functioning of the device is to use wires which are run through a catheter tube and connected at the tip. The tip of the device is similar to a tripod made of spring wire, if any of the legs are shortened, the tripod will bend in a certain angle. This principle can be applied and incorporated into the tip of a catheter device to allow the device to be remotely controlled and bend to various angles.
